Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Medical Assistant/Secretary to join our team. This hybrid role combines essential administrative responsibilities with clinical support duties, serving as a key liaison between patients, clinicians, and referring specialists. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, balancing administrative tasks with hands-on patient care and communication.
Front Desk & Administrative Duties:
+ Greet patients warmly and maintain a welcoming, professional reception area.
+ Register new patients, verify insurance and personal information, and update existing records.
+ Schedule appointments, follow-ups, and diagnostic tests with precision and attention to detail.
+ Answer incoming calls, manage appointment changes, and respond to patient inquiries.
+ Coordinate referrals and communication between clinicians, specialists, and patients.
+ Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records (EMR/EHR).
+ Assist with insurance claims processing and respond to billing questions.
+ Ensure HIPAA compliance and uphold patient confidentiality at all times.
+ Rotate between front desk, phones, and administrative support as needed.
Clinical Support Duties:
+ Assist clinicians with patient intake, including vital signs and basic clinical documentation.
+ Prepare exam rooms and ensure cleanliness and readiness for patient visits.
+ Support clinicians during procedures or exams as appropriate.
+ Help manage clinical supplies and inventory.
+ Provide compassionate, efficient assistance to patients throughout their visit.
Qualifications:
+ Prior experience in a healthcare setting, ideally in a medical assistant or medical receptionist role.
+ Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and medical terminology.
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients and staff.
+ Ability to multitask and stay organized in a dynamic environment.
+ Proficiency with basic computer applications and office equipment.
+ High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant certification preferred but not required.
Position Details:
+ Schedule: Monday - Thursday | 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM & Friday | 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM (36 hours/week)
+ Pay cycle - Weekly | Medical, dental & vision insurance offered

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Waterbury, CT.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
