Located on a 27-acre wooded campus, Fairmount Behavioral Health System is a peaceful, therapeutic environment for patients and families. Fairmount is a major regional resource for children, adolescents and adults who have psychiatric and behavioral problems as well as alcohol and drug dependency needs. The spacious campus borders Fairmount Park in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia. With one of the leading alcohol and drug detox and rehab programs in Philadelphia, Fairmount is the provider of choice for individuals requiring specialized co-occurring psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment. We are currently seeking a PRN Mental Health Technician to join our team.

The Mental Health Technician provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.  Primary responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis interventions, and activities of daily living.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in an area of human services, which includes, but may not be limited to the following: psychology, sociology, political science, counseling, criminal justice, pastoral counseling, elementary/special education, or family therapy.
  • A high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) equivalent, plus a minimum of 2 years of experience (paid or unpaid) in a human service field. This experience must involve direct contact with the individual receiving services (i.e., coaching, teaching, case management, etc.).
  • Must possess knowledge of psychiatric group processes, therapeutic relationship processes, age-specific growth and development, limit setting, and behavior management, crisis management with aggressive behaviors.
