Structural Engineer - Concreate & Steel Design | Ogden, UT
Nexeo Staffing is hiring Mid- to Senior-Level Structural Engineers for a direct-hire opportunity supporting a long-term U.S. Air Force infrastructure modernization program in Ogden, Utah. This role supports the Engineering & Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase of a federally funded initiative focused on the design and construction of secure, mission-critical facilities.
This is a facility-focused structural engineering role—not residential or light commercial work. Structural Engineers in this position will be responsible for the analysis and design of complex reinforced concrete and steel structures, including underground and high-load facilities. The work requires strong technical judgment, independent design capability, and close collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
This opportunity is ideal for engineers experienced in large, complex structures—government, military, nuclear, industrial, or major commercial—who are seeking a stable, long-term role on a nationally significant program.
Responsibilities
• Perform structural analysis and design for complex concrete and steel structures
• Develop and check structural calculations, specifications, drawings, and material requisitions
• Select appropriate structural systems based on load paths, stress limits, and constructability
• Apply engineering principles including statics, dynamics, and materials engineering
• Prepare or contribute to conceptual designs, reports, cost estimates, and quantity take-offs
• Coordinate structural design efforts with civil, mechanical, electrical, and construction teams
• Resolve complex design issues through collaboration with project stakeholders
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers
• Support construction activities by addressing structural requirements and field issues
Required Qualifications
• U.S. Citizenship (federal security requirement)
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening (including marijuana)
• Real ID-compliant driver’s license or state ID required
• Ability to independently perform detailed structural design of concrete and/or steel structures
Strong working knowledge of:
• AISC Steel Construction Manual
• ACI 318
• IBC
• ASCE 7
• Proficiency with structural analysis software (GTSTRUDL, STAAD.Pro, or similar)
• Solid understanding of engineering deliverables, construction methods, and field execution
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Experience coordinating across multiple engineering disciplines
One of the following:
• High School diploma or GED + 9+ years of structural engineering experience
• Bachelor’s degree + 4+ years of structural engineering experience
Preferred / Desired Qualifications
• Active or previously held security clearance
• Experience supporting DoD or government projects
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Experience applying Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) or WBDG standards
• Familiarity with ACI 349 and ASCE 4-98
• Experience with Mathcad or similar engineering calculation tools
• Knowledge of CSI MasterFormat, SpecsIntact, or procurement automation tools
