Our Nuclear Programs and Consulting is a Tier 1 service provider to the U.S. Department of Energy, we deliver safe and innovative solutions at complex nuclear cleanup and production sites. Our services include program management, decommissioning, environmental remediation, waste and nuclear material management, nuclear operations, consulting, and engineering and construction.
We're looking for a Structural Engineer to be responsible for design projects, developing design calculations using standard and advanced analysis (FEA) techniques, developing drawing, and developing specifications for structures made of steel, concrete, and masonry with emphasis on seismic design. Your work will be performed in Oak Ridge, TN with potentially some travel. You will be able to focus on tackling the toughest situations with a smile as you support the development of life changing infrastructure that improves communities all over the United States. **Qualifications:**
+ Sole US citizenship required (to comply with government customer requirements and/or applicable government regulations)
+ B.S. in Structural/Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering school
+ 8+ years of post-education experience
+ A PE or SE is required with ability to obtain a new state license as required.
+ Perform Engineer of Record duties as assigned
+ Demonstrate being Engineer of Record for at least one project
+ Design experience with steel, concrete, and masonry with emphasis on seismic design
+ Experience implementing local and national code such as IBC, AISC, ACI, ASCE 7
+ Ability to follow and implement established quality procedures and ensures that all work accomplished is procedurally compliant
+ Experience working within a quality system based on ISO 9000 or NQA-1
+ Ability to use finite element software such as STAAD.pro (or equivalent)
+ Ability to lead a small team of engineers and designers
+ Competent using Microsoft Office software
+ Reside within a commutable distance from our Oak Ridge, TN office
**Preferred qualifications:**
+ Competent using Revit, AutoCAD, or MicroStation software
+ Experience delivering a range of projects from conceptual design through detailed design. Includes developing design calculations, numerical modeling, drawing development, specification development, and construction support
+ Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
+ Knowledge of nuclear codes such as DOE 1020, AISC N690, and ACI 349
+ DOE Q clearance
+ DOE experience
+ NCEES Record
**Essential Functions:**
Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting. Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc. Longest distance carried of 50 feet. Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands utilized. Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same. No foot controls necessary. Must be alert to equipment in the field, there will be occasional travel, will work near construction job site equipment when in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights.
