The Town of Burrillville is seeking a highly responsible, detail-oriented, and motivated Staff Accountant to join our team. Reporting directly to the Finance Director/Treasurer, this position handles confidential and sensitive matters related to Town finances and personnel.
Key Responsibilities :
The Staff Accountant is responsible for ensuring accuracy, integrity, and proper maintenance of the Town’s automated accounting systems. Duties include coordinating financial transactions from asset procurement through fund disbursement: overseeing, preparing, and maintaining financial records, statements, and reports; and assisting in the development and implementation of internal control policies under the general direction of the Finance Director/Treasurer.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must possess one of the following:
· A Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university and a minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible municipal accounting experience; or
· An Associate’s degree and a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible municipal accounting experience.
Relevant private-sector accounting or financial management experience may be considered in place of municipal experience.
