- Worksite Location: Fargo, ND, Grand Forks, or Wahpeton
- Compensation: $25-35/hr, up to $55/hr for a CPA
What you’ll do as the Tax Officer: - Prepare timely, accurate income tax returns for a variety of farm entities, including individuals, partnerships, C corporations, and S corporations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customer tax-related services, ensuring compliance with tax payments, reporting, and regulatory requirements
- Provide proactive tax planning, consulting, and specialized guidance to customers, helping them navigate complex rules and regulations
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships, focusing on service quality, retention, and satisfaction
- Stay current on evolving tax laws and regulations, and share expertise with internal teams through presentations, mentorship, and knowledge-sharing
- Invoice customers in alignment with pricing structures and maintain accurate records in compliance with association processes
- Collaborate with lending, insurance, and business development teams to identify cross-selling opportunities and deliver comprehensive service experience
- Represent the association at regional agricultural events, industry functions, and customer meetings, actively promoting tax services
- Contribute to internal projects, committees, and initiatives to enhance department performance and overall service delivery
What you’ll bring to the Tax Officer role: - 4+ years of tax experience
- Solid understanding of the agricultural industry, farm operations, and related tax regulations
- Completion or progress toward Farm Credit’s Tax Certification required
- CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation strongly encouraged
- Proficiency in tax software including CCH, CenterPoint by Red Wing, and Winfiler
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new systems
- Analytical and detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving ability
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including customer-facing experience
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently
