Our client is seeking a Retirement Benefits Payments Analyst for a fully remote 12 month contract position. In this role, you would process retirement benefit payments for defined benefit and 401(k) plans.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform day-to-day operations of Retirement Benefit Payments function, ensuring accurate and timely remittance and filing of required tax withholdings in accordance with applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations for the multiple employer retirement plans
• Ensure all retirement payments are accurately recorded in the general ledger and all related general ledger payroll withholding accounts are accurately and timely reconciled
• Review benefit payment tax filings, approve remittances, assist with responses to tax letters and notices, and support tax abatement requests.
• Ensures the accurate and timely remittance and filing of all required Federal and State withholding taxes in accordance with applicable regulations
• Collaborates with staff across the association to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and process integrity
• Supports annual 1099-R preparation and issuance
• Implement strategy for optimizing how use of ADP benefits payments and Omni-Pay benefit payment systems to ensure transaction processing is efficient and effective

Job Qualifications:

• At least 5 years accounting operations experience, including retirement benefit payment processing
• Experience working with automated systems (e.g., Omni-pay, Workday Financials, etc.)
• Knowledge of garnishment and multijurisdictional benefits payments administration
• Knowledge of State and Federal tax withholding and filing requirements, including 941, 945, 1099-R and W-2 preparation, filing and related reconciliations
• Knowledge of tax dispute resolution/penalty abatement
• Ability to work with complex financial spreadsheets
• Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, with a diverse membership, employees and/or vendors in a clear and precise manner
