Job Description

Overview: We are seeking a Prepress Specialist / Sourcing Coordinator who will manage incoming artwork, prepare production-ready files, and ensure each project follows the most efficient and effective production path. This role blends technical prepress expertise with thoughtful workflow decision-making to keep jobs moving smoothly from intake to delivery.

As part of the prepress team, you will review and refine supplied artwork for production accuracy, while also evaluating each job against established guidelines to determine most productive routing path. By owning both the technical and routing aspects of the workflow, you will help maintain consistent quality, optimize capacity, and support on-time customer delivery.

The ideal candidate excels at file preparation, understands print manufacturing requirements, and enjoys making clear, informed decisions that support overall production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Job Evaluation: Assess and gather all necessary information to execute assigned projects effectively.
  2. Graphic Alignment: Utilize Adobe Illustrator to align graphics with mechanical templates, adhering to customer packaging machine specifications.
  3. Design Adaptation: Implement marketing design visions while ensuring print efficiency for flexographic and RIP processes.
  4. Compliance: Ensure all graphics conform to FDA and legal requirements, maintaining industry standards.
  5. Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough QA checks to uphold our artwork quality standards and ensure consistency across similar projects.
  6. Collaboration: Communicate effectively with fellow prepress artists to troubleshoot issues and share essential information.
  7. Customer Interaction: Prepare and deliver materials for customer approval, fostering strong client relationships.
  8. Trapping and Stepping: Execute trapping and mark placements to meet printer expectations.
  9. Screening: Perform screening as per production orders and specifications from printers and customers.
  10. Job Traffic Support: Assist in routing jobs through internal prepress workflows, ensuring files move smoothly between sites, quality control, customer service, and production.
  11. External File Routing: Coordinate the delivery of production files, proofs, and approvals to outside vendors, tracking progress and ensuring timely responses.
  12. Communication Hub: Act as the central point of contact for project status updates, flagging delays and ensuring teams have complete and accurate information.
  13. Schedule Monitoring: Support production timelines by updating job status, identifying bottlenecks, and communicating priorities to the team.
  14. Additional Duties: Undertake related tasks as needed to support team objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Communications, Design, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in the graphics field with proficiency in graphics applications; familiarity with electronic prepress is essential.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of Esko Graphics Workflow is highly advantageous.

Personal Attributes:

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects alongside daily tasks effectively.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • Strong team player who thrives in a collaborative environment.
  • Adaptable to a fast-paced, open office setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating tact and maturity in diverse interactions.
  • Flexible with work hours, including the ability to accommodate overtime as needed.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organized and resourceful, with experience in photopolymer plate making and the flexographic print process.

Why Join Us? We offer a supportive and innovative environment where your skills will contribute to exciting projects and growth opportunities. If you’re passionate about graphic design and prepress production, we’d love to hear from you!
