This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Lake City Correctional Facility. 

 

The mission of the Office of Administration at the Florida Department of Corrections is to provide efficient and effective administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of the department. This includes managing financial resources, human resources, procurement, and other essential administrative functions. The office aims to enhance organizational performance, ensure compliance with policies and regulations, and support the overall mission of the department in maintaining public safety and promoting successful offender rehabilitation. 

 

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Serves as the Contract Monitor at the 893-bed youthful male correctional facility in Lake City, FL, ensuring compliance with the vendor’s contract, ACA standards, FAC rules, and Department of Corrections policies. 
  • Hold weekly meetings with the Warden or Facility Administration to discuss observations and concerns. 
  • Work independently and communicate effectively with peers, facility staff, and Department of Corrections staff, building strong working relationships.
  • Prepare and submit reports regularly, detailing non-compliant issues and positive programs. Monitor deficient issues until corrected.
  • Plan daily visits, including nights and weekends, to check facility operations through observation and/or documentation. Travel to other private facilities as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least two (2) years of adult correctional and/or law enforcement experience.
  • Able to travel to provide monitoring assistance at other contractor-operated correctional facilities, sometimes requiring overnight stays.
  • Must be capable and comfortable working independently, geographically separate from your team.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience demonstrating the ability to conduct independent fact-finding research and objectively report those findings.
  • Contract administration and oversight experience.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
