Since 2009, our team has worked steadily to make this dream a reality. We’ve designed and tested many generations of prototype aircraft capable of serving in a network of electric air taxis. We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onward toward certifying the Joby aircraft, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service.
Overview Joby is seeking a Motion Designer to join our Brand, Marketing, and Communications team. As we prepare to bring our revolutionary electric air taxi service to market, we’re looking for a creative designer who’s excited to shape the look and feel of a next-generation aviation company through motion, animation, and 3D storytelling.
In this role, you’ll support the development of motion graphics, video assets, and visual content across digital channels. You’ll collaborate closely with designers, marketers, and producers to create engaging visuals for campaigns, social media, presentations, and event environments. You’ll also help bring Joby’s aircraft and technology to life through 2D and 3D animation.
The ideal candidate is passionate about motion design, has a solid foundation in design principles, and is eager to grow their skills in 3D, animation, and storytelling. You’re a strong communicator, detail-oriented, and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities - Create motion graphics and animated content for marketing, events, and digital platforms
- Assist in developing 3D assets and animations showcasing Joby’s aircraft and experiences
- Support the design team with motion, visual effects, and storyboarding
- Collaborate across teams in Joby to ensure brand consistency and visual quality
- Stay current on motion trends, tools, and techniques to help evolve our creative output
Required - Bachelor’s degree in motion or visual design
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in motion or visual design
- Proficiency in After Effects, Premiere Pro, Adobe Creative Suite, and Figma
- Familiarity with 3D software (such as Cinema 4D, Blender, or Unreal Engine)
- Strong understanding of typography, composition, and timing
- Interest in technology, aviation, or sustainability a plus
- Strong portfolio demonstrating motion and 3D work integrated within brand identity systems and digital design projects
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously with strong attention to detail
- Experience working within brand guidelines and evolving brand systems
Desired - An eye for product design
- Illustration skills
- Environmental and event design experience
The target base pay for this position is $75,700 - $100,900/yr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
