Chief Nursing Officer – Rural 60-Bed Community Hospital

Are you a dynamic nurse leader with a passion for building high-performing teams and improving patient care in a community-focused setting? Our hospital is seeking a Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to lead nursing operations and drive clinical excellence in a 60-bed rural facility serving a safe, welcoming community.

What You’ll Do

As CNO, you’ll:

• Provide strong leadership across Med/Surg, Telemetry, and ICU—driving unit performance, patient satisfaction, and outcomes.
• Lead a team of 250 FTEs , fostering accountability, engagement, and skill development through best practices and shared governance.
• Spearhead initiatives to grow Med/Surg volumes from 18 to 24 patients/day while maintaining the highest standards of care.
• Partner with a dynamic executive leadership team to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration and patient-centered care.
• Oversee EMR and IT conversions (including payroll to Workday), ensuring seamless transitions across systems.
• Inspire nurses, physicians, and staff to bring their best selves to work every day, creating meaningful connections with patients, families, and colleagues.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate has:

• Proven success turning around units and leading them to high performance.
• Demonstrated strength in change management, IT/EMR conversions , and system integration.
• Experience in shared governance and building a culture of safety and collaboration.
• Outstanding communication skills to engage with medical staff, corporate partners, and system leaders across other rural hospitals.

Requirements

• BSN + Master’s degree required
• Active RN license (multi-state compact preferred)
• 4–6+ years of progressive clinical & operational nursing leadership
• Current ACLS, TNCC, PALS, BCLS
