We’re opening a new-wave halal butcher shop and specialty grocery store in Astoria, Queens this fall, and we’re looking for skilled, passionate butchers to join our team from the ground up. This is a great opportunity to be part of an opening team and help shape the standards, systems, and product selection from day one.
We’re seeking candidates with experience in:
• Breaking down whole animals
• Butchering primal and subprimal cuts
• Making sausages, charcuterie, and pâtés
• Dry aging and smoking meats
• Preparing marinated cuts and value-added products
• Knife skills and precision cutting
• Maintaining cleanliness and food safety standards
• Providing exceptional customer service and product knowledge
Experience with cheese, seafood, and specialty prepared foods is a plus.
Comfort with interacting directly with customers, explaining cuts, and offering cooking advice is highly valued.
This will be the first of its kind in NYC, a modern, farm-to-table halal (no pork) butcher shop offering premium, humanely slaughtered and ethically sourced meats with a curated selection of artisanal grocery items. We will also carry specialty spices, pantry staples, and hard to find ingredients for home cooks who value quality and authenticity.
