Summary

The essential purpose of this position is to schedule and perform blood, salmonella & water test procedures on breeders and pullets according to Perdue and NPIP testing requirements.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Must be able to carry a catching pen weighing up to 40 lbs and handle live birds weighing up to 10 lbs for testing purposes. Vehicle & equipment must be cleaned daily and biosecurity procedures followed at all times.
• Extract blood samples from live birds following NPIP standards. Prepare serum and deliver to appropriate locations.
• Comply and follow company requirements regarding biosecurity, food safety and poultry welfare programs and policies at all times.
• Manage company vehicle and operate in a safe manner complying with all Perdue, state and federal requirements/policies and use only for work related purposes.
• Maintain safe working environment.
• Perform other tasks as required and needed by operations.

Minimum Education

High school or equivalent.

Experience Requirements

Experience Preferred

Reading, writing and math skills

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

• May need to move equipment or supplies weighing up to 40 lbs from one place to another.
• Exposure to dusty, odorous environments.
• Must be able to navigate uneven terrain and climb stairs.
• Exposure to outdoor elements to include extreme heat, cold and inclement weather with both ambient and 100% humidity.
• Must be able to operate a vehicle for more than 4 hours per day.
• May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food and processing facility.
• Must wear and use personal protective equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
